MUSIC

Irish music is a folk tradition known throughout the world for its emphasis on technical virtuosity, intricate patterns and furious tempo. A Trad session uses Traditional Instruments such as the Bodhran (Irish Drum), Uilleann pipes (not to be confused with the Scottish bagpipes), wooden Irish flutes, whistles and Irish Fiddle. A night of traditional music (a Trad session) embraces a catalogue of Irish song which continues to evolve and develop in the hands of contemporary musicians.

Creating the right atmosphere for your Wedding or Event is important. You can rest assured that Asgards Irish Music will provide your event with an authentic session and heartfelt ceremony and your guests will remember the day for years to come. With decades of experience Asgards Irish Music are well-versed in Traditional Irish tunes and Songs, as well as Classical and Contemporary pieces. Unlike many Trad groups you will see advertised through online agencies, Asgards Irish Music play as our original trio we play together regularly and what you see is what you get…. no surprises!

EVENTS

Asgards Irish Music are an Irish Traditional band who play at a variety of events in Dublin, Leinster and Nationwide and are available for Corporate and sport gatherings, Meet in Ireland events, Private parties and Team building workshops. They also perform regularly in Irish pub sessions. Rehearsal dinner or Day 2 music. A typical performance is 2 hours and contains a wide variety of musical styles in the Irish tradition, including jigs and reels, hornpipes, airs and waltzes. They are based in greater Dublin but travel nationwide. They play in Kildare, Meath and Wicklow regularly and will travel to Sligo, Connemara and anywhere in between. When you book Asgards Irish Music what you see is what you get. Alison, Martin and Mick are a dedicated, genuine traditional trio and only book other musicians where absolutely necessary. Rooted in heritage they are authentic and steadfast in the tradition.

OUR MUSIC

The Asgards are highly professional and sought after for Weddings and Corporate Events and have worked with companies and agencies such as Google, Salesforce, Verve Agency and Grooveyard to create amazing, authentic events. We play regularly at Wrights Anglers Rest, Chapelizod. The Asgards generally play in the greater Dublin area, but are also available in Leinster and nationwide. We are preferred suppliers at some of Irelands premier venues such as The Merrion, The K-Club, Luttrelstown Castle, Barberstown Castle, Carton House, Wrights Anglers Rest, Clanard Court Hotel, Markree Castle and Rathsallagh House with recommended by some amazing international wedding planners such as Waterlily Weddings and Love and Gatherings.

THE MUSICIANS

ALISON GOUGH

Alison Gough, from County Dublin is a Classically trained violinist from a traditional Irish music background. She has played across the globe from Las Vegas Fremont Street to folk festivals in the south of France. You might catch her some night playing some lively tunes at the Anglers Rest in the Strawberry Beds….

MARTIN NOLAN

For any wedding, the haunting sound of the uniquely Irish uilleann pipes creates an unforgettable Celtic atmosphere. Much quieter and sweeter than their Scottish cousin, (the Highland pipes) the uilleann pipes are especially effective in a church setting. Martin Nolan is a highly respected member of the Irish piping community, with more than 30 years experience.

MICK DUNPHY

Mick Dunphy is a Waterford native from a musical family. He plays the Guitar, Bodhran, Whistle and will belt out a ballad if it’s called for. He has performed and taught Irish music at many colleges, festivals and venues around the world from Trinity College Dublin to the Milwaukee Irish Fest.
