Irish destination wedding couple Brendan and Sherien had the most amazing weather today for their outdoor ceremony! They had the fabulous Orla from Waterlily weddings https://www.waterlilyweddings.com there to orchestrate the ceremony and she made sure everything ran smoothly. Framed with a beautiful floral arch by Boutique Blooms http://boutiqueblooms.ie. The clearest blue skies were the perfect backdrop to their intimate Irish elopement wedding. The couple came all the way from Florida, USA and brought the sun with them. OK, so we were having a heatwave but this couple really did bring the love with them. They were joined by their closest family and friends and the ceremony was officiated by one of their best friends. It was really windy there at the top of Howth head but our music carried to the guests as they were waiting for the bride to arrive.

While the guests were seating we played some Irish songs. Red is the Rose, Black is the colour, Will you go Lassie go (Wild mountain Thyme) and Inisheer. As the Bride arrived we played Plenty Irwin, a piece by O’ Carolan. It was a really simple ceremony during which we played Tabhair dom do Lamh (Give me your hand in Gaelic) and Si Beag Si Mor. As the couple walked down the Aisle as a newly married couple we played a few lively jigs.

The entire wedding party then boarded a vintage bus and made their way to The Anglers Rest. While the guest sipped prosecco we were joined by a Banjo player and we sang some upbeat Irish folk songs. The Wild Rover, Whiskey in the jar and Molly Malone, to mention just a few.

This Irish destination wedding reception was really fun. We received so many compliments. It was a great success thanks to some of the best Irish wedding suppliers around. The cake by Cupcakes and counting https://cupcakesandcounting.com was to die for . And the entertainment was fantastic! 😉

Asgards can’t wait for the next destination wedding in Ireland.

Asgards Irish Music are:

Alison Gough, Fiddle-player, gardener and environmentalist

Alison’s main passion is playing the fiddle. When she’s not making beautiful music she can be found growing delicious vegetables in her garden. Top of her list of favourite things to grow are chilli peppers. The hotter the chilli the better. She makes a very good Jalapeño hot sauce and fermented Tabasco-style sauce. Alison is involved with green energy community projects in her village in Kildare. She loves cooking and hopes that one day her kids will actually eat the food she cooks!

Mick, Mentor for children, Volunteer

Mick believes in giving back to his community. That’s why he has acted as a volunteer for organisations such as National Council for the Blind and various youth outreach programmes in disadvantaged areas. He loves to keep fit and is training to be a mentor to kids in schools to improve well-being and health through fitness, nutrition and music. Right now Mick is in the planning stages of setting up a kids music facilitation workshop called “Music for Everyone”. Music for everyone is a really exciting project which will bring together all of Mick’s interests. Kids will have positive role models and interactive music classes.

Martin, World traveller and Adventurer

Travel has always been Martin’s interest. Music has brought him to exotic and far away places like India, Australia and New Zealand. Recently he went camping in the Canadian Rockies and almost had a run in with a few bears. When he’s not on the road touring and hiding from bears he teaches Uilleann pipes. His particular style of Uilleann piping was taught to him by the late Johnny Keenan. Johnny was a travelling piper. Martin got the name for his first Album Travelling Style from this style of piping he plays. His second album, Bright Silver, Dark Wood was inspired by the gorgeous set of pipes made for him by Andreas Rogge a pipe maker based in Germany.
